Title IX 50th Anniversary
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” --Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972."
June 23, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the federal law that provides gender equity in education. To commemorate this milestone on the University of Northern Iowa campus, a multidisciplinary committee has been working on ways to educate the UNI community on what Title IX is, Title IX's history and the importance of this federal regulation.
