Pregnancy & Related Conditions

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX") prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including pregnancy and related conditions in educational programs and activities that receive federal funding. Students and employees who are pregnant or have related conditions are protected by Title IX, in addition to other applicable federal and state laws.

Students

Students who are pregnant or are experiencing related conditions can contact the Dean of Students Office for assistance.

Dean of Students staff serve as the first point of contact for pregnant students seeking assistance in understanding university policies and procedures related to pregnancy or childbirth. Through conversation, Dean of Students staff can help a student understand next steps for communicating with faculty regarding their individual needs. Staff can also help provide connection to other resources when necessary.

Employees

Employees who are pregnant or are experiencing related conditions can contact Human Resource Services for assistance.

The university offers a variety of free services for those who are eligible and expecting.

Lactation Space Access

UNI provides students and employees with access to lactation spaces that are functional, appropriate, and safe. Information on the location of lactation spaces, including how to access the spaces is available through Human Resource Services
